It is a zinc-based metal soap formed from the reaction of zinc oxide with octanoic acid (caprylic acid), and it is often diluted with organic solvents for ease of use.It is generally supplied as a clear, amber to pale yellow liquid when diluted in organic solvents. Zinc octoate acts as an auxiliary drier in coatings. It ensures that the coating dries evenly throughout its thickness, preventing surface defects such as wrinkling and ensuring a hard, durable finish.

Application & Usage:

  • An auxiliary drier used as a pigments dispersing agent.
  • Used in paints based on high viscosity media which may have only limited solubility in solvent employed.
